Blogging is no more a leisure activity, or something you do in your pastime, it is evolving into a full fledge career. Everyday more and more people say goodbye to their jobs and turn towards blogging for making money. Now, I am not going to discuss the pros and cons of taking that step, because it’s a fact that many people are pursuing blogging as a fulltime job and making good enough money, and it makes perfect sense if you are also thinking of giving it a try. But before you start blogging full time, remember that blogging can be quite taxing for both your body as well as your mind.
To start with, if you are looking to make money via blogging, we can assume that you will be having more than one blogs, and you will need to produce unique content for all of these blogs, do the SE optimization, social media marketing, and then spend a lot of time reading about the best blog marketing or monetization methods on web. In most cases, you might have to recruit some freelancer or assistants to help you with the content generation or link building for your blog, that’s quite some work, and thinking that you can do all that from your laptop sitting casually on a couch is nothing more than wishful thinking.
The idea of “working in your pajamas” might be more appealing at first, but it is certainly not the most productive way to work. There’s a reason those businesses spend on all sorts of equipment and furniture. In short, the sooner you can get yourself a proper workplace with basic office furniture like table, the better.
For blogging, you don’t need to have a lot of equipment; in most cases a PC with a computer table and chair will suffice. When purchasing furniture for your blogging setup, you must keep the following points in mind.
1. Think Long Term
Thinking long term is of great consequence whenever you are investing your money, because short term thinking can do more harm than good, and same is true when you are investing on blogging furniture. When you are in the market and trying out different chairs and tables, ask yourself if you can sit on this chair and table for long hours, for a long time to come. Because almost all chairs will feel reasonably comfortable at first but you need to think long term. Same goes for the table, you might need to move this table from one room to another in future, or maybe from your home to office in case your blogging business takes off, so you should buy a table that will easily fit everywhere.
2. Knowing what’s recommended
Search and read on internet about the recommended heights of the table and chair, because you can an adjustable chair but it is not possible to adjust the height of the table, make sure that there is a keyboard and mouse tray in the table. The chair must be having good support for your back, neck and head, because spending long hours in front of a PC can result in all sorts of back or neck strains.
3. Shouldn’t be too comfortable
Its one thing to think of your comfort when buying furniture, and it’s another thing to go for overly cozy tables or chairs. Sitting on a cozy couch might feel good, but having such furniture will make it difficult to focus on your work, or to keep your mind working at its optimal level. Ideally, you should be sitting with an upright posture and a straight back. That slouching posture might look good in pictures, but it is a big no when it comes to practicing.
4. Utility Comes First
Furniture designers are getting more and more innovative, and you might come across some striking piece of furniture that looks like a work of art, but you must think twice before purchasing them. This artistically designed furniture might bring some wows and wonders from the visitors but you are not purchasing them to cherish from a distance, you need it for work, so utility should be the first thing on your mind.
5. Price and Material
When purchasing furniture, it is advised to not be too tight-fisted as well as wasteful. Spending too much will put an unnecessary burden on your budget, while spending too little will result in low-quality furniture. Also, make sure that the furniture is made of some long-lasting material, so that it will continue to serve for years to come.
